branches scratching
on your window
rain striking
the roof above
wind whistles
along the siding

yet you
come closer, to me

the sun
has long gone
dark clouds
carry along the sky
booming thunder
in the distance

yet i
remain here, by you

moon beams
flicker through
star light
cannot be seen
street lights
hazed by fog

yet here
together, we are

near your proximity
my chest begins to cave
my heart pretends
to beat again
almost like it used to
before

the quiet
the calm
the storm

getting caught in the rain
worrying about you
being reckless with myself
letting the wind dictate my direction

i think you kept me still

but days after – i remain closed

i was drunk
when you strolled in
and i asked
where have you been
ive finished a few cans
smoked a few cigarettes
maybe we can order in

you laughed
grinned at me
like i was such a sight to see
a blue moon
shining on me tonight
so i poured you a glass
know you wouldnt ask

our conversation
carried on
hours passed until dawn
so we came together
under covers
to embrace
slumber off

when i woke up
you were dressed already
put your makeup on
no hesitation
my stomach churned
with a kiss goodbye
door closed – i rolled over and cried

peeling the layers
stripping the finish
clearing the catalouges
recovering the lost
resetablishing myself

its true     (probably)
my veins show
my hands ache
my skeleton shines
my blood clots
getting down to me

ive defaulted     (status)
to step back
to look ahead
to reminisce learn
to collect
back into my skin
