how intricate are your intimacies
do they connect your perversions
while severing fears and doubts
the eyes you wish looked elsewhere
then upon the body of your work
can you hide indoors to delight
when all the fun of nature seduces
the air you had to share with them
is as old as the blood you pump
through hollow veins echoing surrender
convicted felons of free formation
held you to words you thought best saved
for the hearing of your life disaster
their value dropping in the thousands
as your lies grow in demand
the truth of the delivery
returns you to the honest parts left
broken bones with rotten marrow
eager to take you back to the beginning
so they can finally do what you never could do
give up

i can follow
your smoke trail
through the city
while it rains
it stands out
under street lights
through parades

as i come to crossroads
catch up with you
get you in my sights
i see you freeze dead
before you drop
smoke screen away

stay out of the water son
you’re too tired for any fun
thirteen as sweet as can be
always helping out
around the house
with your sister
amethyst
tried to bring you
back to life
but your lungs
gave up the fight
wish i knew
wish i could change everything
take your hand
and take you out
never would have
to see you drown
it’s gonna be hard
not having you around

in the pitch black of night
i can see your flicker
illuminating ahead of me
but when i turn around
your already gone
sometimes i catch
small flashes
from the corner of my eye
but just as before
you’ve disappeared from behind
maybe you just like casting
shadows that aren’t yours
seeing them dance before you
letting them fade under your control
all while watching others reactions
as they jump out of their skin
then as they come to admire
the shape before them
it dims and departs
how kind and cruel you are
the roles you choose to play
projector and hit man
only the sun can take your fun away

are you here
in the quiet
dark corners
of this room

is your breath
visibly chilled
taking it in
silently still

yet i remain
unphased still
covered here until
you decide to return

every noise that echoes
inside of this house
is a clamouring statement
for you to come home

can you imagine me
waiting here patiently
wide eyed awake
come back to me
