did you catch what was on my mind
derivative of the changing times

whose the best to judge us now
with our empty pockets drawn out
the only calls we make are collect
no one ever picks up to accept

only old souls lay beneath our feet
drowning in puddles of perseverance

what once was our claim to fame
has left us down a cold well
as dry as the hearts of a disbeliever
who had sin running through their veins

when the sun came up and it still rained
did you give up and accept the never-ending pain
